Meeting Minutes – October 19th
LGA Booster Club Meeting Minutes
Date: 10-19-11
Call to Order: 7:01 PM
Attendance: Missy Van Zant, Carrie Yessler, Kathie Rebain, Sandi Haas, Colette Migora, Jill Ohland, Raisa Martinez, Stephanie Garrity, Kris Hattley, Nicole Harris, Midge Lord, Sue Dillon, Amy Downie, Michelle Wagner
President’s Update
- Motion to approve September meeting minutes was made by Sandi Haas, seconded by Jill Ohland. All in favor, no one opposed. Motion passed.
State Clinic Update
- Missy asked everyone present at the meeting for comments/feedback about their daughter’s experiences of the state clinic. One mother made the comment that her daughter worried that it would be really hard, but she found it wasn’t and she really enjoyed it, girls also seemed to enjoy the pit.
Doc’s Millionaire Event
- The next Doc’s event will be on November 25-28, sign ups will start after tonights meeting and then it will go to the members that weren’t present at the meeting. This will be an individual fund raiser.
Hair Clinic/Flip-Flop Event
- This team building event date is now on Sunday, November 13 in the gym 1:00-3:00. Paula will be running the hair clinic. Martha and Sandi will be showing the girls how to make the blankets and scarves. The girls will be able to work on their flip-flops, blankets for the animal shelter, and scarves for themselves while the parents are learning how to do competitive hair styles for the upcoming season.
Vice President’s Update
Joey’s Comedy Fund Raiser
- Joey’s Comedy fund raiser is being postponed until February, 2012. No exact date yet.
Greektown Casino Bus Trip
- The Greektown Casino bus trip is scheduled for November 19. Details will be sent out by email soon. This will be an individual fund raiser. Please put the money you collect with the names of the people attending in an envelope marked “Casino Trip” in the booster club mailbox.
New Leo Sale
- The new Foxy’s leo sale will be in December. We will let you know of the date later. We will be trying this new company due to some complications we have had with past companies. The sale will correspond with the recreation classes sign ups or the first week of the new classes, or if this time doesn’t work we will do it closer to the holidays.
Treasurer’s Update
Monthly Statements
- Tami has given out the monthly statements. She will be making a large bank deposit when she returns. The state fees, deposit for Chicago and Grand Rapids fees have been paid for. The registrations for the Chicago meet will need to be sent in soon. Our bank balance is good.
Doc’s September Fund Raiser Profit
- The last Doc’s fund raiser earned the workers $25 per hour worked. Tami forgot to take out the start up money and the casino registration fee.
Miscellaneous/Committee Updates
Ladies Vendor Night
- The vendor night will be on Thursday, December 8 at One Under on 5 Mile Rd. Tami is working on getting vendors, if you know anyone that might be interested in being a vendor, please let Tami know. There will be a registration fee and the vendors will donate an item to be raffled off. A percentage of the sales will go back to the booster club. There is a chance of making $1,000 if we fill up all the vendor spots.
Spirit Wear
- The spirit wear will be ordered from Mc Gowan’s this year. Sharon and Tammy are working on the order forms and they will be emailing the information and soon getting the samples hung up in the coat room.
Team Phone Cards
- Missy will contact Mari and Sondra to see how the phone cards are coming along. These cards will be used for the gymnasts with pictures, names, and phone numbers.
Gym Bags
- Elaine will have all the bags ordered soon. Their was another new gymnast added in the last few weeks. The prices are a little higher than in the past. These bags will be hopefully given out at the flip-flop/hair clinic event.
Northville Community Service Project
- Sandi went to the Northville Civic facility, she said that it serves 200 families. She made up the flyers and put them in the gymnast’s boxes after the meeting. She will be bringing in a box for donations. This program will run from November 1-11. Sandi will give a small treat to the families that donate 5 or more items, put your name on the bag and put it in the box. If you prefer to give items other than food, contact Sandi and she will give you a donation receipt. She and her family were very touched by the facility. You can also take a picture of your daughter putting the bag in the box or with the items donated and they will be put on the website.
Laser Tag Team Builder
- Missy will check with Chris to see what is happening with this fun activity.
Sponsorships
- Wendi is working on the sponsorships, to be put on the website and ordering the t-shirts. She will also be working on the thank you letters. The date for team pictures for the plaques will have to be determined when the new competition leos arrive.
Meet Score Templates
- Missy has the meet score templates, if this is your volunteer position, please contact her for the template that can be typed and sent to the website.
Motion to adjourn meeting was made by Sue Dillon, seconded by Sandi Haas. All, in favor, meeting adjourned at 7:55 pm.
The next meeting date is Monday, November 14th at 7:00 pm.
