What is Scrip?
Scrip means substitute money.
GLSC brings hundreds of America’s most respected retailers to your non-profit organization.
GLScrip brings to you retailers like JCPenny, Lowe’s, Home Depot, AMC Theater, Claire’s, Sears, Macy’s, Pottery Barn, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marathon Oil, plus hundreds of other retailers.
You pay full value for a gift card. However, GLScrip sells the gift cards to the LGA Booster Club at a discount. The difference between the full value & the discounted price goes into your personal account.
For example, you pay full value for a $100 JCPenny gift card. GLScrip sells the JCPenny gift card at a 5% discount to LGA Booster club. Meaning, LGA Booster Club only pays $95 for that gift card. That $5 difference ($100-$95) gets credited to your own booster club account. This difference is what I call “scrip credit earned”.
I ran this program at my kids’ school for 2 years and it was quite successful. I personally was able to earn $1900 in scrip credit in one school year.
It has been decided that we will place orders twice a month. The orders would be placed in the Booster Club drop box. Orders will be due on a Thursday and cards will be available for pick up the following Wednesday.
However, when ordering from GLScrip, there is a shipping charge of $7.50. The scrip program had a buy-in that had to be met that helped pay for the shipping charges plus other minor expenses. The buy-in is met through the scrip credit earned. The buy-in is set at $2 per family per order. For example, if in your first order you buy $300 in JCPenny gift cards at 5%, you earn $15 in scrip credit. $2 of the $15 goes towards the buy-in. The remaining $13 gets credited to your account. The buy-in does not affect how much you have to pay for the cards it only affects the amount of profit you earn into your personal fund raising account.
Participation in this program is optional. But by using this program, you can use the money earned via scrip to help pay for your fundraising fees &/or booster club dues. If you earn above and beyond both those amounts, that extra money can go towards your tuition payments.
